Football landscape specialist Mike Bayly was ready to cover an an end to end tussle between Parkgate FC and Dronfield Town FC, which was a lively 3-2 in the 58th minute on Saturday.

By then though, rain which if you were to call it torrential would be an understatement, set in, with conditions changing quicker than the seasoned photographer has ever seen.

So sit back in the dry with your feet near the fire and luxuriate in some images of football in “proper” conditions that saw the match in South Yorkshire abandoned.
