Sunset of Słupia

What happened in the summer in Mazovia, and what I saw there while traveling through the land, I explain below.
However, I am aware that words may not describe the charm and romance found there – on my 210th ground, under the skies turning pink, inevitably.
When the warm sun of late August was descending over Sierpienica river, a penalty shootout seemed unavoidable. Then, Mazur strengthened with some new blood and scored a second goal.
The hosts, having made a few more changes, desperately started attacking – sometimes through the middle, sometimes on the wing – trying to break through to the goal of the sixth-league team.
After all, a next phase of the district cup was at stake.
But the extra time didn't help: Pogon, however brave and ready for further challenges, was defeated 1:2 and eliminated.
The last whistle signalled both teams to collect their things from the tin benches; to return the balls; to freely exchange some post-match observations: "pity the missed header" – heard on the way back to the changing room at a nearby school.
And to lend the pitch to local children who, enjoying the last days of holidays, will play there until dusk.
