San siro on film

San siro on film

Dan Murphy captured the San Siro in Milan on film and Tom Reed wrote a little poem on what the iconic stadium means to council estate kids. Not much more to say than that is there? Let your heart fill in the rest, go kick a ball against a wall a hundred times, on your own.

They’re leaving San Siro they say

Might pull it down

Tell that to eight year old me

Italian football on the telly

Forget Wembley

San Siro’s the home

of those curly corners

Taking you to

heaven in concrete

They play till it gets dark there

Just like we did

But switch on the lights

So you can watch the Kings

of headers and volleys

You could walk out

on those giant red girders

and see the whole city

We had Findus Crispy Pancakes

for tea

They had two great teams

Bergomi,

Marco Van Basten.
