Last weekend’s Dutch football was not only about the cup final between Ajax Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven, there happened to be more cup football at the lower levels.

In Eerbeek, somewhere between Go Ahead Eagles Deventer and Vitesse Arnhem in the Gelderland province, local side Eerbeekse Boys met ATC ’65 from Hengelo in the quarter final of the district cup.

The first teams of Eerbeekse Boys and ATC ’65 play at the 8th and 7th level, but this was all about the 5th team of Eerbeekse Boys and the 8th team of ATC ’65.

Teams that usually play quite anonymously for a handful of family or friends.

But this time was different, when both the ATC ultras and the Ultras Eerbeek decided to make a party.

Watching football and supporting your team is not about levels, league tables and results. Meet your mates behind the goal, a bit of smoke, a few flares, a beer or two and having fun in the sun.

A football supporters’ life is not that complicated and boys will be boys.
