The town of Marlow in South Buckinghamshire is known as the home of top chef Tom Kerridge’s Michelin starred pubs.
South Buckinghamshire, were Marlow lies, isn’t known as a football hotbed but Marlow FC have a rich history in the FA Cup.
Between 1989 and 1996 Marlow made hay in the world’s oldest cup competition, reaching the first round proper four times and the third round on two notable occasions.
The standout came in 1993 when the Blues took on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in round three. Marlow lost 5-1 that day but it represented a huge achievement to take on the Lillywhites.
They are up always up for the cup at Marlow and with Tom Kerridge being appointed Vice President in 2016, it has to be the best place in England for some post match footy scran, if you can get a table.
Matt Barnes took his camera and sat in the wonderful 1920’s main stand as Marlow took on Stormzy’s AFC Croydon Athletic in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round.
Marlow went through with a 2-0 victory and face Horsham in the next round on Saturday.
