For Everton fans, match-day is not just about the excitement of the game but also the experience of the journey to Goodison Park.

The match-day commute for Everton supporters is a ritual that adds to the rich tapestry of the football culture in Liverpool. From the bustling city centre to the historic stadium nestled in the heart of the community, every step of the journey is filled with anticipation and tradition.

As fans venture towards Goodison Park, public transport becomes a vital part of the experience. For me, it’s a trip from the Wirral into town, a stop off at the Denbigh for a few pints, and then hopping back on to the train via the Northern line to head to Kirkdale. That’s all before the always captivating 20 minute walk up to Goodison.

Kirkdale is where the march to the stadium begins as fans spill out onto the platform and make their way up the steps out onto the street. Walking up, local pubs and chippies become hubs of activity as supporters indulge in pre-match rituals, each group of fans with their own long-standing traditions.

One unique aspect of Everton's pilgrimage is the deep connection between the club and the local area. Goodison Park is not just a football stadium; it is a proud symbol of the equally proud local community. Fans from all walks of life come together to support their team, creating a sense of belonging that extends beyond the pitch.

The journey becomes as much a part of the match day experience as the game itself.

The Toffees' commute is not just a trip to the stadium; it's a celebration of football, community, and tradition.
